Community Service & Volunteer Network

In 1990, the Miss America Organization began the personal platform concept as part of the competition during the personal interview. Each contestant selects an issue of importance to her and society. During the interview, contestants are evaluated on their commitment and knowledge to their chosen issue. Some platforms contestants are currently working with include: AIDS awareness and prevention, the effect of domestic violence, and ways to motivate children to higher education.

button The Miss America Organization is a volunteer network with thousands of individuals. Last year, these volunteers raised over $45 million in scholarship assistance for young women. The volunteers work hard to raise scholarship money and create opportunities for young women to succeed personally and professionally. They also organize the local and state preliminary competitions which promote community involvement.
